MORAY MAN JAILED FOR SEVEN YEARS OVER FORRES ALLEYWAY RAPE

A Moray man has been jailed for seven years for raping a woman in an alleyway.

Joel McKerrell was found guilty by a jury on January 9 and was sentenced today (Friday, February 6) at Inverness Sheriff Court.

The 28-year-old, of Knockomie Rise in Forres, placed his hands beneath the victim’s lower clothing and seized her by the body before raping her.

The incident happened on October 9, 2022, outside, near to Anderson Crescent in Forres.

Sheriff Olga Pasportnikov sentenced McKerrell to seven years in prison.

She also placed a non-harassment order on him indefinitely to prevent him from having contact with the victim.
