GEORGE IZATT SENTENCED IN LEVENMOUTH FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE

A man named George Izatt, who is currently serving time in prison for previous offenses involving the sexual abuse of children, has been handed an additional six-year prison sentence. This new sentence was handed down on Tuesday, April 11, after a court found him guilty of abusing three more victims over a span of six years.

Izatt, aged 41, had already been incarcerated since 2019 for earlier charges related to child sexual abuse. However, following media reports about his case, a new victim came forward, prompting police to reopen their investigation. The victim’s testimony, along with other evidence, led detectives from the public protection unit to identify and pursue further charges against Izatt.

Investigations revealed that Izatt had targeted children in Levenmouth, Fife, during the years from 1996 to 2003. The new evidence and testimonies resulted in his conviction on four additional counts of child sexual abuse, significantly extending his criminal record.

After the sentencing, Detective Constable Ross French from Fife’s Public Protection Unit issued a statement emphasizing the severity of Izatt’s actions. He expressed appreciation for the victims’ bravery in coming forward and speaking out, despite the trauma of reliving their experiences in court. Detective French highlighted that Izatt refused to admit his guilt, which made the victims’ testimonies even more crucial in securing the conviction.

He also reaffirmed the commitment of Police Scotland to thoroughly investigate all reports of sexual crimes, regardless of when they occurred, and to ensure that offenders are held accountable. The case underscores the ongoing efforts to protect vulnerable children and bring predators like Izatt to justice, especially in communities such as Levenmouth where these crimes took place.
