EDINBURGH MAN JAILED FOR VIOLENT RAPES AND ATTACKS IN DALKEITH
An Edinburgh man named George Currie, aged 27, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for multiple serious offences including rape and attacks on two women in Dalkeith.
The court found Currie guilty of seven charges, encompassing rape and domestic assault, committed between 2008 and 2016.
During the proceedings, Lord Arthurson highlighted Currie's previous 'deplorable' criminal record involving violence, and remarked that his victims had been left 'clearly traumatised'.
The sentencing took place at the High Court in Glasgow.
Details of the crimes reveal that Currie repeatedly raped one woman, including while she was sleeping, and also demanded one victim terminate her pregnancy, even holding a knife at her.
The other victim was subjected to assault including rape, punching, kicking, and hair pulling.
It was also reported that Currie was deemed a 'high risk' for future offending and has been placed on the sex offenders list indefinitely.
