DOMESTIC ABUSE VICTIM SPEAKS OUT AFTER BRUTAL ATTACK AND COURT SENTENCE
A man named David MacDonald, aged 38, was sentenced to four and a half years in prison last month for a series of brutal domestic abuse charges against his ex-girlfriend Joanne Flanagan, aged 28.Joanne bravely recounted her harrowing experience of sustained sadistic abuse at his hands, including instances where he ran her over and tried to manipulate her into silence.
Joanne described how MacDonald forced her to eat a mouse nest as punishment in 2018 and inflicted severe physical injuries, such as throwing her through a window which resulted in a large gash that he later reopened during another assault.
She also detailed how he manipulated the police and medical staff by spinning lies about her injuries, including claiming she had simply dropped her phone when she was actually run over by his Audi.
Joanne accused MacDonald of being a psychopath who preyed on her due to her traumatic childhood in care, noting his controlling behavior that extended to her finances and personal choices.
She believes his actions demonstrated a clear pattern of psychopathic tendencies and expressed her concern that he should be institutionalized rather than imprisoned.
Despite his conviction for multiple assault charges, Joanne fears he is a danger to her and others and worries he may evade justice again since he has shown no remorse.
Her case highlights the ongoing danger and the importance of awareness around domestic violence and psychopathic abusers.
The court's decision resulted in his incarceration, but Joanne remains terrified of his potential for retribution and continues to seek help and raise awareness about domestic abuse.
