BRUTAL TEENAGE KIDNAPPERS WALK FREE AGAIN IN WALLSEND
Two girls who snatched a 14-year-old and subjected her to a 14 hour kidnap ordeal have walked away from court. The sinister attack was chillingly similar to one they carried out five years earlier.
Despite this, Gemma Ritchie and Leanne Hollister, both 18, escaped jail after admitting locking their victim in a house and repeatedly attacking her.
Violent Ritchie threatened the 14-year-old with a knife and encouraged two younger girls to bite, kick, burn, and punch her during the torture session while Hollister stood by and watched.
Hollister also hit the youngster in the face before handing her over to milkman Gary Alderson who indecently assaulted her.
Ritchie of John Street, Wallsend, pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm and was sentenced to a 12 month Community Rehabilitation Order and 100 hours of Community Punishment.
She will also be electronically tagged for six months to stop her leaving home between 8pm and 7am.
Also, Hollister, of Berwick Terrace, Percy Main, pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced to a 12 month Community Rehabilitation Order and 90 hours of Community Punishment.
She was also ordered to pay 100 pounds in compensation.
The pair had previously admitted false imprisonment and grievous bodily harm in a 2000 incident involving another girl.
Their first victim's father expressed his disappointment, stating: "I recognised the names as soon as I saw them in the paper and couldn't believe it had happened again.
It is a virtually identical case and it has brought it all back for my daughter.
I am very disappointed they have effectively walked free again.
They should have been sent to prison for what they did." The article also details the earlier incident when the girls, at age 13, captured a 12-year-old on the Metro, dragged her into dark alleyways, physically assaulted her, and caused serious injuries, with police arresting them the next day.
The report highlights the ongoing impact on the victims, including attempted suicide and ongoing counselling.
Gary Alderson, aged 45, is scheduled to be sentenced for indecent assault on March 23 at North Tyneside Magistrates Court.
