GAVIN REID SENTENCED IN INVERNESS AND CUMBERNAULD FOR SEXUAL AND DOMESTIC ABUSE

Gavin Reid, a 31-year-old man, has been handed down a significant prison sentence of 14 years following his conviction for a series of sexual and domestic abuse offences. The crimes, which took place across the Inverness and Cumbernauld areas, were brought to justice after a thorough legal process. The sentencing was carried out at the High Court in Aberdeen on Tuesday, 19 March 2024, marking a decisive step in addressing the serious allegations against him.

Reid’s criminal activities spanned a period from 2016 to 2021, during which he committed multiple offences that deeply affected his victims. The case was tried at the High Court in Inverness, where Reid was found guilty of the charges. The court’s decision not only resulted in a lengthy prison term but also included the imposition of indefinite non-harassment orders aimed at protecting two victims from further contact or intimidation. These orders serve as a legal barrier to prevent Reid from approaching or harassing those individuals in the future.

Detective Inspector Gordon Patullo, speaking on behalf of Police Scotland, expressed his sympathies for the victims and underscored the importance of the case.
