2011: KIDDERMINSTER BUILDER JAILED FOR SEX OFFENCES
A MASTER builder from Kidderminster who abused two young girls over several years for his own sexual gratification has been jailed for six years.Gary Whitmore, 47, of Whittall Drive East, Birchen Coppice, was found guilty after a trial at Hereford Crown Court on 10 charges of indecent assault and indecency with a child.
Whitmore did not give evidence and when he was sentenced at Worcester Crown Court, Judge Daniel Pearce-Higgins QC said he had shown no remorse for his conduct.
Prosecutor Sarah Allen said the offending began with Whitmore showing one of the girls a pornographic film and it progressed to touching her body.
On one occasion he gave her oral sex and carried out digital penetration.
He claimed she had made up the allegations.
He had sex with the other victim and maintained he thought she was 16 at the time.
Whitmore was jailed for 18 months in 1998 for causing grievous bodily harm but he had no convictions for sex offences.
Abigail Nixon, defending, submitted several references describing him as a good family man, friend and worker.
He had been bringing home a good wage as a master builder and was in the process of renovating a property for a businessman.
But the judge said Whitmore showed a lack of remorse or insight to the damage he had caused.
It was clear that he had used the two young girls as objects for his sexual gratification.
He ordered him to register as a sex offender indefinitely and he also made a sexual offences prevention order forbidding contact with females under the age of 18 for the same period.
