A JUDGE has jailed Gary Warren for four years after he subjected his partner, Kathleen McGuinness, to a severe beating which led to her death.
The family and friends of Kathleen cheered when Warren was convicted of killing her at her home in Wroxham Road.
Warren denied murder, claiming it was an accident, and the jury convicted him of manslaughter after a 13-day trial at Mold Crown Court.
He stated he tried to help her with her drink problem, but she fell downstairs while drunk.
Prosecution evidence showed she had been attacked, with 50 bruises on her body, and she later died from bleeding to the brain despite attempts to save her.
The judge noted Warren did not intend to cause really serious bodily injury, acknowledged no bones were broken, and that he caused no lacerations, but he did rain a number of blows including one to the back of her head which caused her death.
The court also heard Warren was jailed for 28 days in 2000 for affray involving Mrs McGuinness.
