MILTON KEYNES MAN SENTENCED FOR RAPE FOLLOWING POLICE INVESTIGATION
A man named Gary Cooper, aged 25, of St Peters Way, New Bradwell, Milton Keynes, has been convicted and sentenced after a Thames Valley Police investigation. On April 26, 2019, at Aylesbury Crown Court, Cooper was found guilty by a unanimous jury of one count of rape and received a total sentence of seven years and six months imprisonment.
The incident occurred on October 21, 2017, during a party at an address in Milton Keynes, when Cooper entered a bedroom where the victim, a woman in her twenties, was asleep, and subsequently raped her.
He was charged on October 9, 2018.
Detective Constable Ian O’Bryne, involved in the investigation, stated: “This demonstrates how seriously this type of offence is taken and the importance of consent.
When someone is asleep or unconscious, they cannot give consent.
Thames Valley Police will always listen to victims of such offences, carry out investigations, and bring those responsible to justice.
As a result of his actions that night, Cooper has now been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison.
I hope that this sentencing serves as a warning to others, and helps the victim to move forward with her life.”
