GARY BRIGHTON AND RIOEN SHORTHOUSE SENTENCED FOR CRUELTY TO DOGS IN SMETHWICK

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Smethwick, two brothers-in-law, Gary Brighton and Rioen Shorthouse, have been found guilty of subjecting six dogs to inhumane conditions. The incident came to light after an anonymous tip-off prompted an investigation by the RSPCA, leading inspectors to a residence where the conditions for the animals were described as utterly deplorable.

Upon arrival at the property, inspectors were met with a cacophony of frantic barking, so loud that communication was nearly impossible. Inspector Nick Sutton recounted that the scene was distressing, with five of the dogs visibly in a state of severe neglect and suffering. One of the animals was so weak and unwell that it had collapsed and could barely move, requiring urgent veterinary intervention. The investigation revealed that the dogs had been kept in a
