GARY BRIGHTON AND RIOEN SHORTHOUSE SENTENCED FOR CRUELTY TO DOGS IN SMETHWICK
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Smethwick, two brothers-in-law, Gary Brighton and Rioen Shorthouse, have been found guilty of subjecting six dogs to inhumane conditions.
The incident came to light after an anonymous tip-off prompted an investigation by the RSPCA, leading inspectors to a residence where the conditions for the animals were described as utterly deplorable.
Upon arrival at the property, inspectors were met with a cacophony of frantic barking, so loud that communication was nearly impossible.
Inspector Nick Sutton recounted that the scene was distressing, with five of the dogs visibly in a state of severe neglect and suffering.
One of the animals was so weak and unwell that it had collapsed and could barely move, requiring urgent veterinary intervention.
