FREDERICK YEO SENTENCED IN ELLSERE PORT FOR GROOMING SCHOOLGIRL
In a case that has shocked the local community of Ellesmere Port, a man named Frederick Yeo has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison for systematically grooming and abusing a vulnerable schoolgirl over a period of two years. The court proceedings revealed disturbing details about how Yeo, aged 57, exploited the trust of a young girl, who was only 14 years old at the time they first became acquainted.According to the evidence presented at Liverpool Crown Court, Yeo, a former resident of Ellesmere Port and also associated with Walton, befriended the girl through a mutual family friend. Over the course of their relationship, which spanned from March 2002 until December 5, 2003, Yeo engaged in a calculated campaign of manipulation and abuse. He took advantage of her youth, inexperience, and emotional vulnerability to establish a sexual relationship that persisted even after she turned 16.
The judge, Mr. Justice Phipps, described Yeo’s conduct as highly manipulative, emphasizing that he had “controlled and manipulated” his victim. The court heard how Yeo played on her innocence and sensitivities, encouraging her to keep their relationship secret. Evidence also showed that he arranged clandestine meetings and even instructed her to conceal the true nature of their relationship from others. In an attempt to cover his tracks, Yeo falsely told people that the girl was his niece, further complicating the deception.
Yeo denied nine counts of indecent assault, maintaining his innocence throughout the proceedings. His defense, led by barrister Steven Swift, argued that the allegations were fabricated by the girl. Despite these claims, a jury found Yeo guilty of all charges after deliberating on the evidence presented.
Following his conviction, Yeo was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely. Additionally, a sexual offenders’ prevention order was issued, which prohibits him from being alone with any girl under the age of 18 unless under appropriate supervision. The court’s decision underscores the severity of his actions and the importance of safeguarding vulnerable minors from predatory behavior in the Ellesmere Port area.
