JONATHAN EGGINTON AND FRAZER EGGINTON SENTENCED IN YEOVIL FOR HORRIFIC CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Yeovil, a father and son have been convicted and sentenced for their heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of a young girl.The case came to light in December 2017, revealing a series of deeply troubling offenses committed within the town.
Frazer John Egginton, aged 47 and residing on Westfield Road in Yeovil, pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to the abuse of a girl under the age of 13.
His admissions included three counts of sexual assault on a child under 13, two counts of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, and a charge of rape of a girl under 13.
The severity of his crimes was reflected in his sentencing, which on Monday, December 18, resulted in a total prison term of 24 years, with an additional 12 months added to his license period upon release.
His son, Jonathan Lee Egginton, aged 26 and living on St Patricks Road in Yeovil, was found guilty in October of causing or inciting the same young girl to participate in sexual activities.
His conviction led to a sentence of three and a half years in prison.
Both men’s crimes were committed against the same victim, highlighting a disturbing pattern of abuse within the family.
The investigation that uncovered these crimes was initiated after a friend of the young girl discovered a notebook kept by her, which contained details of the abuse.
This discovery prompted police to interview the girl, who, with the help of specially trained officers, disclosed the horrific details of the abuse inflicted by Frazer Egginton.
During subsequent interviews with social workers, she revealed that her suffering was not limited to her interactions with Frazer but also involved his son, Jonathan.
As part of their sentences, both men were ordered to register as sex offenders, and they are now subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Additionally, they are required to pay a victim surcharge of £120 each.
The case was overseen by Judge David Ticehurst, who praised the police officers for their meticulous and diligent investigation, describing it as “careful and prolonged work.” The judge also expressed admiration for a woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, for her unwavering support and care for the victim since her disclosures.
Judge Ticehurst emphasized the importance of compassion and human kindness, stating, “There is good in the human soul,” and paid tribute to the woman’s efforts in helping the young girl recover from her trauma.
