FRANK JARVIS FROM LEWISHAM AND PECKHAM SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC CHILD RAPE CRIMES

In a disturbing case that has shocked the communities of Lewisham and Peckham, Frank Jarvis, a man with a long history of criminal behavior, was convicted of heinous crimes involving his own daughter. The case, which came to light through a detailed court process, revealed a pattern of systematic abuse that spanned several years and culminated in a tragic and deeply disturbing incident.

According to court reports, Jarvis, who was released from prison in 2007 after serving an eight-year sentence, had been abusing his daughter since she was just eight years old. The abuse persisted over many years, with Jarvis subjecting his daughter to repeated acts of sexual assault and rape. The most devastating of these occurred in August 1999, when the girl, then 16, was mourning her mother’s death. Her mother, who had succumbed to secondary breast cancer the previous summer, was laid out on a bed in their home. During this vulnerable moment, Jarvis entered the room and once again forced his daughter into sexual acts.

Despite his efforts to control her through threats, the girl managed to escape that time. Throughout the years of abuse, Jarvis had threatened her with harm to her mother if she ever told anyone or tried to leave. With her mother now gone, the girl decided to seek help. In December 1998, she contacted the police, expressing her fears that her father might one day turn his attention to her own young daughter.

Jarvis was arrested on January 3rd, 1999, and subsequently brought to trial at the Old Bailey. During the proceedings in June 1999, the now 18-year-old victim bravely took the stand, tearfully recounting the years of horrific abuse she endured from her father between the ages of 8 and 13. She described how her father, who was known to DJ in pubs along the Walworth Road under the alias 'Fungus Face' and would take her to secluded areas in Burgess Park to commit his crimes, had subjected her to repeated assaults.

The girl also revealed that her father had been arrested previously for hitting her mother on several occasions, although her mother would often withdraw her allegations. She expressed her fear of police involvement, worried that her mother would suffer further retaliation if she reported her father’s actions. Despite her fears, she decided to come forward, and her testimony played a crucial role in securing justice.

During the trial, Jarvis denied all thirteen charges, claiming that his daughter was fabricating the allegations in an attempt to obtain compensation. However, she had made no such claims during the proceedings. The jury took only a few hours to find Jarvis guilty on all counts, which included seven counts of indecent assault and six counts of rape. The court sentenced him to ten years for each rape charge and four years for the indecent assault, with the sentences to run concurrently. The judge emphasized the severity of his crimes and his lack of remorse, recommending that Jarvis serve at least seven years before being considered for parole.
