FAISAL ALI SENTENCED IN DERBY FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON NORMANTON ROAD
In a recent case that has drawn significant attention in Derby, Faisal Ali, a 36-year-old man with no fixed address, was found guilty and subsequently sentenced for a sexual assault incident that took place on Normanton Road. The incident occurred early in the morning, around 8am on Monday, November 27, when Ali approached a woman who was simply standing in the street. Without warning, he touched her bottom and engaged in other inappropriate behaviour, causing distress to the victim.Witnesses and the victim reported the incident to the police, who responded swiftly to the scene. Faisal Ali was arrested and brought before the court, where he pleaded guilty to the charges last week at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court. The court's decision reflected the seriousness of the offence, and Ali was sentenced to six months in prison. This sentence aims to serve both as punishment and a deterrent against similar conduct in the future.
In addition to his jail term, the court imposed a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) that will remain in effect for two years. This order explicitly prohibits Ali from engaging in certain behaviours within the Normanton area, including causing nuisance, begging, or being intoxicated in public. Such measures are intended to prevent further incidents and protect the community from anti-social behaviour.
Furthermore, Ali was ordered to pay a total of £365 in financial penalties, which includes £250 in compensation to the victim and a £115 victim surcharge. He is also required to register with the police under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 for a period of seven years, ensuring ongoing monitoring and safeguarding measures.
Authorities and police officials expressed their satisfaction with the court's ruling, emphasizing that the decision not only delivers justice for the victim but also addresses broader concerns related to anti-social behaviour linked to Ali. The case underscores the ongoing efforts by local law enforcement and community leaders in Derby to maintain safety and uphold the rule of law in the area.
