CHORLEY PERVERT ERIC GREENALL SENTENCED FOR OBSCENE IMAGES AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Chorley, pensioner Eric Greenall, aged 67, has been convicted and sentenced for possessing a large collection of indecent and extreme pornography, including images of children and animal cruelty. The incident came to light in May 2014 when police officers executed a search warrant at his residence on The Grove, Chorley.

During the raid, law enforcement officials uncovered hundreds of illicit images stored on Greenall’s computer. These images included some of the most severe categories of child abuse material, specifically three images classified at SAP level five, which is considered the most serious, along with additional images at levels one through four. The police also found material depicting animal cruelty, further highlighting the disturbing nature of the content Greenall had been in possession of.

Greenall subsequently pleaded guilty to 11 counts of creating indecent images of children. His legal admission also encompassed possession of nearly 200 images spanning levels one to four, indicating a significant collection of illicit material. Additionally, he admitted to possessing extreme pornography, which involves highly explicit and violent content, during a hearing held at Preston Crown Court.

Representing Greenall, his defense attorney Lucy Wright stated, “These are issues that have been very much in the forefront of his mind for some time. The offences to which my client has pleaded guilty are very much aggravated by the ages of these victims.” The court was informed that Greenall has been involved in possessing indecent images since 2006, suggesting a long-standing pattern of offending behavior.

As part of his sentencing, Greenall is required to register as a sex offender and will be subject to ongoing monitoring upon his release from prison. Despite the extensive collection of illicit images, further examination of additional material found during the raid did not conclusively determine the ages of the individuals depicted, and no additional charges were filed in relation to that material.

Judge Stuart Baker sentenced Greenall to eight months in prison, emphasizing the severity of his crimes. The judge also made it clear that Greenall faces the possibility of immediate imprisonment if he breaches any conditions of his sentence. Greenall’s conviction and sentence serve as a stark reminder of the serious consequences associated with the possession and creation of child exploitation material, especially within the community of Chorley, where residents are now left to grapple with the disturbing revelations of this case.
