LIVERPOOL WOMAN JAILED FOR KILLING MOTHER AMID PSYCHOTIC SYMPTOMS
A woman has been sentenced to 10 months in jail for the manslaughter of her mother in Liverpool during the summer.Emma Parr, aged 38, admitted her role in the killing of Carol Parr, 62, on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
She had previously denied murder at Liverpool Crown Court.
Carol Parr was discovered at her residence on Ardrossan Road, Anfield, on June 10th, suffering from neck injuries, which a post-mortem confirmed as the cause of death.
The Crown Prosecution Service indicated that Parr was experiencing psychotic symptoms at the time her mother died.
During sentencing, Mr.
Justice MacDuff stated, 'I am entirely satisfied that what you did on that dreadful night was largely outside your control.
I am satisfied that through it all you continued to love your mother and she you.
I am also satisfied that what you did was wholly out of character and that you are a loving and caring person who will find it difficult in the future to live with this episode which will form an important part of your past.' Parr's brother, Jason, told police that their relationship had been good before.
However, it had become strained as Parr struggled with her mental health issues.
Rachael Barber, the senior crown prosecutor, said, 'This is a very sad case.
They were said to be more like friends than mother and daughter.'
