ISLE OF WIGHT WOMAN WHO HARASSED EX AFTER COURT ORDER SENTENCED
AN ISLE of Wight woman who harassed her ex by breaching a non-molestation court order within 24 hours of its imposition has been sentenced.
Emily Barter, of Upper Yarborough Road, East Cowes, appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates on Friday, September 26.
At a previous hearing in July, the 29-year-old admitted two counts of breaching a non-molestation order, in East Cowes, between June 20 and 24.
At that hearing, prosecutor, Graham Heath, said the court order would have been fresh in the mind of Barter, who breached it within 24 hours of its imposition.
The court heard she sent further messages across several days which were unwelcome and intended to harass and pester.
She sent him a barrage of abusive messages, and the victim, her former partner who has custody of their child, received a series of unwelcome messages intended to harass.
Barter was sentenced to a 12-month community order, including 15 rehabilitation days.
She was also fined £100 and ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £114 surcharge.
