SEX OFFENDER CAUGHT WITH INDECENT IMAGES OF YOUNG CHILDREN
A sex offender who assaulted a child years ago "didn't learn his lesson" when he was caught with indecent images.Edward Smith was [convicted](https://www.nottinghampost.com/all-about/crime) in 2017 of four offences of sexually assaulting a girl and was jailed for 12 months.
Appearing in court on the new offences, Judge John Burgess said "that obviously aggravates the position and shows you didn't learn your lesson".
He sent Smith to prison for 13 months for making indecent images of a child.
No separate penalty was given for having an extreme pornographic image.
The judge imposed a new sexual harm prevention order for ten years.
Smith is already subject to the requirements of the sex offenders' register.
The images were found on a hard drive when police attended the home of the 32-year-old, of Elmsfield Avenue, [Heanor](https://www.nottinghampost.com/all-about/derbyshire).
It contained nine Category A images - the most serious - and two videos; five Category B images and one video, and 97 at Category C - the least serious - and 24 videos.
One additional image was of extreme pornography.
None of the images were of babies, Nottingham Crown Court heard.
The youngest seemed to be four years of age.
