COUPLE JAILED AFTER MAKING INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN
A couple have been imprisoned after police uncovered more than a thousand indecent images of children on their devices, which they also shared online. The arrest of Scott Topley was initiated after he was identified through a video found on a mobile phone during an unrelated investigation by another police force.
The video showed Topley engaged in sexual activity while viewing illegal images of children.
Authorities searched the residence shared by Topley and Gordon Phillips on Fall Road, Heanor, and confiscated their electronics.
An analysis of Phillips's device revealed the presence of indecent images, resulting in his arrest.
Investigators found over a thousand child sexual abuse images, as well as material related to extreme pornography and the sexual abuse of their pet dog.
Both men were formally charged on 28 May 2025 with multiple offences, including creating and distributing indecent images of children, possessing prohibited images, and possessing extreme pornography involving an animal.
They admitted to the offences on 24 July, and on 29 January 2026, they appeared in court at Nottingham Crown Court.
Topley, 46, and Phillips, 41, were each sentenced to six years and three months in prison.
They were also subject to fifteen-year Sexual Harm Prevention Orders and are mandated to register with police on an ongoing basis.
