OFFENDER EDWARD CONNORS RECEIVES EXTENDED SENTENCE FOR ELDERLY HOME INVASION IN BURNAGE
A 92-year-old woman was subjected to a terrifying assault by offenders Leanna Connors and Edward Connors, who broke into her residence in Burnage.Edward Connors, aged 30 and a convicted rapist, was the first to access her bedroom by climbing a ladder after observing that her window was open.
He then restrained her by tying her wrists with a dressing gown cord and ordered her to go downstairs.
Subsequently, Edward used her house keys to admit his partner, Leanna Connors, aged 29.
The pair then stole her jewelry, including a 22-carat gold wedding ring, a gold wedding band, two gold necklaces, and various family heirlooms.
The elderly woman was left tied to a chair, gagged with tights, with her feet secured with tights and a vacuum cleaner cable.
During the incident, she was also physically assaulted and bruised.
She eventually managed to free herself and alerted the police on June 2.
Both offenders admitted guilt to charges of robbery, attempted burglary, burglary, and fraud.
Edward Connors additionally pleaded guilty to breaching a sexual harm prevention order.
The court sentenced Edward to an extended period of 14 years, with an extra license period exceeding three years, and both men were classified as 'dangerous,' meaning they must serve two-thirds of their sentences before being considered for parole.
Leanna was sentenced to a total extended term of 12 years, with a license period of more than two years.
The court recognized that Edward exploited the victim’s age and vulnerability and noted that both individuals participated in additional burglaries shortly after the initial offense.
