ALIE FAWAZ FROM BURNAGE CAUGHT IN ONLINE PREDATOR SCANDAL INVOLVING 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN MANCHESTER

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, Alie Fawaz, a young man from Burnage, was brought to justice after being caught engaging in predatory online behavior targeting a vulnerable 13-year-old girl in Manchester. The incident, which unfolded over a period of time, involved manipulation, threats, and exploitation through social media platforms, highlighting the dangers faced by minors in the digital age.

It all began when the girl, who was only 11 years old at the time, started communicating with Fawaz, then aged 15, on the popular social networking site Omegle in October 2012. Over the course of more than a year, their online interactions escalated, with Fawaz convincing her to send explicit videos and images. By December 2013, when Fawaz was 17 and the girl was 13, he had successfully persuaded her to send a 30-second video of herself performing an indecent act. In response, Fawaz also sent similar explicit content.

The girl later described feeling physically ill the morning after their exchanges, as noted by prosecutor Andrew Mackintosh. Despite deleting Fawaz’s contact details in February 2014, the online communication continued. In July of that year, Fawaz contacted her again, urging her to send another lewd video, threatening to post the images online if she refused. Fearing the images would be shared publicly, the girl confided in her mother, who responded decisively.

In a direct message, the mother warned Fawaz: “If you ****ing contact her again I will phone the police. In fact I might phone the police anyway.” Following this, the mother contacted law enforcement authorities, leading to Fawaz’s arrest. He was subsequently charged with multiple offenses, including causing a child to engage in sexual activity, causing a child to watch sexual activity, and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. Fawaz later pleaded guilty to all charges.

During the court proceedings at Manchester Crown Court, it was revealed that Fawaz’s actions had a profound impact on the young girl, who was just 11 when their online interactions began. The court heard that Fawaz’s behavior was part of a pattern of predatory conduct, exploiting the girl’s vulnerability and trust.

Fawaz, now 20 and residing in Kingsway, Burnage, expressed remorse for his actions. His defense attorney, Mark Monaghan, described him as ‘thoroughly ashamed’ and emphasized that he was still a teenager at the time of the offenses. Monaghan also highlighted Fawaz’s perceived social isolation, low self-esteem, and immaturity, suggesting these factors contributed to his behavior.

Judge Andrew Blake, presiding over the case, acknowledged the seriousness of the offenses but agreed with the defense’s recommendation for rehabilitation over imprisonment. He ordered Fawaz to participate in the Northumbria Sex Offenders’ Programme as part of a three-year community order. Additionally, Fawaz was ordered to pay £500 in costs and was subject to a restraining order to prevent any contact with the victim. The judge emphasized the importance of protecting young girls from predators like Fawaz, stating, “Young girls have to be protected from people who are predatory like you.”
