MOTHERWELL MAN JAILED FOR STABBING AND ATTACKING PARTNER DURING VIOLENT ROW
Dylan Young was convicted for a violent assault on his partner during an incident at their home in Shields Road, Motherwell.The court heard that Young stabbed the woman during a heated row and then chased her out of the house where he hit her on the head with a bottle.
Furthermore, he produced a knife from his waistband and began swinging it at her, causing superficial cuts to her wrist.
The victim was left bruised on her face and head after the attack and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Prosecutor Neil Thomson stated, "He produced a knife from his waistband and started swinging it.
The victim put her arms up to protect herself and as a result suffered five superficial cuts to her wrist.
She fled from the house and tried, without success, to get help from neighbours.
The accused ran after her, shouting angrily and threatening violence.
He caught up with her and struck her on the head with a bottle." Young, aged 25, admitted assaulting his partner on August 29.
The court described the incident as a "terrifying" experience for the victim.
Young claimed he lost control after his partner tried to stop him from taking his own life.
The court sentenced him to 18 months in prison, backdated to September 2, with a five-year non-harassment order.
The sheriff highlighted Young's previous convictions for violence, disorder, and weapons offences.
