DOUGLAS JENKINS INVERGORDON ABUSE CASE: MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO YEARS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN ABERDEEN AND INVERGORDON
A 55-year-old man named Douglas Jenkins, originally from Manor Crescent in Aberdeen, has admitted to a series of serious domestic abuse incidents involving his ex-wife. The crimes took place over a span of more than five years, from August 2005 to October 2010, across different locations including Alness and Invergordon. The court was informed that Jenkins subjected his former spouse to both physical violence and psychological torment during this period.According to court records, Jenkins inflicted significant injuries on his ex-wife by striking her on the head with a cup, an act that caused concern for her safety and well-being. In addition to the physical assaults, Jenkins was accused of grabbing her by the throat, an act that could have endangered her life, and sitting on her, further demonstrating the severity of his aggressive behavior. These acts of violence were part of a broader pattern of abuse that left lasting scars.
Beyond the physical violence, Jenkins repeatedly created an atmosphere of fear and intimidation. He was known to act aggressively, shouting and swearing at her, throwing objects, and even locking her out of their shared residence. These actions served to control and dominate her, contributing to a climate of ongoing terror and emotional distress.
During the court proceedings, Jenkins was not physically present. His solicitor advocate, Clare Russell, explained that Jenkins was very ill at the time and therefore unable to attend. She also highlighted that, although Jenkins has a history of domestic offenses, he has not been convicted of any recent crimes since 2015. The case is scheduled for sentencing at Inverness Sheriff Court next month. A further court appearance is set for April 22, during which the full details of the case will be formally presented and considered by the court.
