JEALOUS EXETER BOYFRIEND JAILED FOR MAKING PARTNER'S LIFE A LIVING HELL
Dominic Court, a 24-year-old man, has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison at Exeter Crown Court for a series of violent and controlling behaviors against his partner. The prosecutor described Court as a "jealous and violent bully" who made his girlfriend's life extremely difficult through a campaign of aggressive actions including grabbing her around the throat, threatening her with a knife, and emotionally manipulating her by crying and threatening self-harm if she tried to leave.
The victim reported incidents where Court assaulted her physically, such as pushing her to the bed during a hotel stay in Bristol and holding a knife to her neck, chest, and stomach, which made her consider jumping out of a window to escape his threats.
Court also sent hundreds of messages pressuring her to remain with him and made threats against her family, including petrol bombing her mother's car.
He was also involved in threatening and blackmailing her, coercing her to stay silent about his violence, and ignoring bail conditions.
The most serious assault occurred in London, where he slapped, kicked, and physically restrained her, demanding her to delete photos of bruises, and threatening her with a knife, leading her to seek refuge in a Subway restaurant.
Throughout their relationship, which began in August 2022, Court displayed obsessive and possessive behavior, monitoring her movements and threatening harm when she expressed a desire to end the relationship.
Court pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including controlling and coercive behavior, assault causing actual bodily harm, and intentional strangulation.
Judge David Evans described him as a risk to future partners, citing his patterns of emotional blackmail, controlling behavior, and threats of violence.
