DJOS LOMBO FROM TOTTENHAM SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC ASSAULT IN WALTHAM CROSS
In a chilling case that has shocked the community, 21-year-old Djos Lombo, a resident of Lordship Lane in Tottenham, was convicted of a brutal sexual assault and attempted murder that took place in Waltham Cross.The incident, which occurred on Friday, November 18 of the previous year, involved a 16-year-old girl who was left severely traumatized by the attack.
According to court proceedings at St Albans Crown Court, Lombo demonstrated a complete lack of remorse for his actions.
The court heard how he had been communicating with the young girl for approximately two months via WhatsApp before the assault.
On the day of the attack, he led her to a secluded area of bushy wasteland near her home, a place she and her friends often visited.
It was in this remote location that the horrific events unfolded.
During the assault, Lombo forcibly covered the girl’s mouth with his hand, threatening her with the words, ‘scream and I’ll kill you,’ as he proceeded to touch her genitalia and force her to perform oral sex.
The girl lost consciousness during the attack, as Lombo attempted to choke her in an effort to kill her.
Believing she was dead, he dragged her into the bushes and took her jumper and jacket, suspecting they might contain his DNA.
However, the girl was not dead; she awoke to find herself only partially clothed, wearing just her jeans and bra, and covered in scratches and nettle stings from being dragged across rough terrain.
Despite her injuries, she managed to stagger away from the wasteland and ran through the streets, only wearing her bra.
She eventually reached her home, where she confided in her mother about the assault.
Her mother, who raises her daughter alone, described the profound impact the incident has had on her child.
The victim now suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, experiencing frequent nightmares and migraines, and she rarely leaves the house.
Her attendance and motivation at college have declined significantly, and her mother noted her emotional withdrawal and reluctance to open up.
The family has moved house in an attempt to escape the scene of the attack, but this has not alleviated their distress or financial burden.
In court, Judge Marie Catterson described Lombo as ‘callous’ and accused him of displaying ‘self-serving cruelty’ during the attack.
She highlighted that the jury had completely rejected Lombo’s account of what transpired and emphasized his lack of empathy for his victim.
As part of his sentence, Lombo was sentenced to 26 years in prison and was issued a restraining order preventing him from making any contact with the victim, her mother, or any members of their household.
The judge’s remarks underscored the severity of the crime and the profound harm inflicted on the young girl and her family.
