LONDON UNDERGROUND CENTRAL LINE SEX OFFENDER JAILED
A “vulgar and sickening” man who sexually assaulted a woman whilst masturbating on a Tube has been jailed.Rohan Uddin, 22, of Bedford Road in Tottenham, was sentenced to 16 months behind bars after he pleaded guilty to outraging public decency, sexual assault and two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.
At around 9pm on April 29 he sexually assaulted a woman on an eastbound Central Line train at Marble Arch station.
Uddin chose to sit next to the lone woman on a relatively empty carriage and began to masturbate whilst he sexually assaulted her.
The victim, in her 20s, moved away from Uddin and took a photo of him which enabled police to identify him and place a wanted marker on his name.
Two months later, Met Police officers stopped him for unrelated reasons and arrested him upon discovering he was wanted.
He assaulted two officers whilst under arrest.
At Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 16 he was sentenced to 16 months in prison and was given a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
The SHPO bans him from talking to or engaging with any women or girls not known to him when travelling on public transport, entering a station or travelling on transport while under the influence of any intoxicating substance, placing his hands inside clothing in order to touch his genitals while on board or at stations, and from travelling without a valid ticket or payment for travelling.
Detective Constable Sexton-Thomas said: "It is thanks to the brave woman reporting this horrific incident to staff and to officers that we have been able to get this vulgar and sickening individual off of the railway network.
The sentence handed down and the long-lasting Sexual Harm Prevention Order should act as a warning to others that we take all reports of sexual offences and unwanted sexual behaviour seriously and we will always support and believe victims throughout the investigation.
If you experience or witness a sexual offence on the railway or at a station, I urge you to report it to us.
You can do this by discreetly texting us on 61016, or by calling us on 0800 40 50 40."
