DENNIS NEWTON SHIREBROOK SEX OFFENDER EXPOSES AND DEGRADES VULNERABLE TEENAGER IN BRADFORD COURT
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, Dennis Newton, a 59-year-old man from Shirebrook, was found guilty of engaging in inappropriate and illegal conduct involving a vulnerable 14-year-old boy from Keighley.The incident came to light after the teenager, who cannot be named due to legal restrictions, became entangled in a series of sexually explicit exchanges with Newton through a sex chat line, a service typically used by adults seeking sexual encounters.
According to court proceedings, the young boy inadvertently accumulated a substantial phone bill of approximately £700 on the premium line.
This line was intended for adult users, but the teenager, driven perhaps by curiosity or vulnerability, engaged in conversations that quickly turned inappropriate.
One of the individuals he communicated with was Dennis Newton, who was residing in Nottinghamshire at the time.
Newton appeared in court last Thursday to face charges related to his conduct on April 1 of the previous year.
Prosecutor Richard Wright detailed the nature of the exchanges, emphasizing that the boy had sent Newton a photograph clearly showing his face, which confirmed his age as 14.
Despite this, the two continued to exchange sexually explicit images.
The teenager also sent indecent photographs of himself, while Newton responded by sending a video clip depicting a male performing a sex act.
The court was told that Newton’s contact with the boy diminished after he suggested they meet in person.
However, Newton persisted in sending messages, urging the boy to reconnect, even after the teenager ceased replying.
The case took a further turn when Newton was arrested after the boy’s father discovered the messages on his son’s phone.
It was revealed that Newton had joined the chat line following the breakdown of his marriage, possibly seeking solace or escape through these illicit communications.
During the court hearing, Newton expressed remorse and shame for his actions, fully accepting his wrongdoing.
Judge Jonathan Rose sentenced Newton to a three-year community order, which includes supervision and participation in a program designed to address his sexual offending behavior.
The judge remarked, “You are now ready to face the demons that have driven you into a Crown Court dock for the first time in your life.” Furthermore, Newton was subjected to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order to help safeguard children from potential harm.
He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of five years, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities to prevent any future offenses.
