MAN WHO ABUSED MULTIPLE PARTNERS IS JAILED
A man responsible for abusing three former partners, which included acts of assault and strangulation against two women, has been sentenced to prison.Ashley Bradbury displayed violent and abusive behavior towards all three women during their relationships, exercising control over their activities and sending them repeated messages.
In December 2022, police responded after Bradbury assaulted his then-partner during a street altercation in Shirebrook.
He pushed her multiple times to the ground, causing her to bash her head against the pavement.
Additionally, he kicked her in the stomach while she was on the floor, then helped her up and forced her against a wall, resulting in another head injury.
The second assault took place in October 2023, with Bradbury in a relationship with a different woman.
At his home in Shirebrook, he pulled her by the arm and threw her to the floor.
He then followed her to the bedroom, placed both hands around her neck, and strangled her until she feared losing consciousness.
He also punched her leg several times and struck the back of her head when she attempted to leave.
A third woman, with whom Bradbury had been involved, contacted authorities in June 2024 to report an earlier assault at his residence.
During this incident, he flipped the mattress she was seated on, causing her to fall and hit her head on a radiator.
He then grabbed her by the arms, shook her, and strangled her again.
Throughout their relationship, Bradbury was controlling, restricting her contact with family and friends, locking her inside his home, and confiscating her shoes to prevent her from leaving.
The 37-year-old resident of Byron Street, Shirebrook, faced charges of actual bodily harm, controlling or coercive behaviour, and two counts of intentional strangulation.
Despite denying the allegations, he was convicted following a trial at Derby Crown Court in January.
On 13 August, Bradbury was sentenced to five years imprisonment and received a 10-year restraining order prohibiting contact with one of the women.
