WEST LONDON OBSESSIVE EX-BOYFRIEND JAILED FOR LIFE IN BRUTAL MURDER
In this case, Dennis Akpomedaye, age 30, was found guilty of a particularly violent murder in West London.Evidence presented in court showed that Akpomedaye, driven by obsession, sought out his ex-girlfriend Anna Jedrkowiak, aged 21, who had ended their relationship to start afresh in London.
He concealed his identity by wearing a balaclava and pulled up his hood as he followed her after her shift at a local eatery.
The judge characterized the assault as 'ferocious and savage,' revealing that Akpomedaye stabbed Ms Jedrkowiak 40 times in a fierce attack in an alley in Ealing.
Eyewitnesses, including Jack Maskell, who was with her at the time, described the scene as 'dark and cruel.' Maskell stated that he was left with 'indescribable memories that can never be erased.' After the attack, Akpomedaye’s bloodstained trail led police to a pond, where he had thrown away stolen items from the scene.
He was arrested within 22 hours, attempting to return to his home in Newport, South Wales.
The court sentenced him to life imprisonment with a minimum of 29 years, after he put forward an unusual excuse claiming to be a sword performer whose act had gone wrong.
The judge underscored the brutality and relentless nature of the killing, noting that there was 'no mitigation' and no evidence suggesting mental health issues or disability.
The victim’s family voiced their grief and anger over the incident, condemning Akpomedaye for not attending his sentencing and calling him a coward.
They added that he 'will be in prison for many more years' despite having caused her death.
