TOTTENHAM MAN JAILED FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT AGAINST FORMER LOVER
An ex-boyfriend, Delroy Clive Gordon, aged 52 from Park Lane in Tottenham, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for crimes against his former partner.Gordon had been in a relationship with the victim for two years before turning hostile.
According to reports, he raped and sexually assaulted his former lover, and also beat her with a leather belt before leaving her house in Plumsted in April of the previous year.
The victim initially chose not to report the assault but did record an injury photograph on her phone.
Gordon continued to contact her in the following weeks, claiming he was contemplating taking his own life, which led her to meet him again in Tottenham last May.
During this meeting, he took her to a shop to show her his refurbishment work but then dragged her by her hair, punched her in the face and arm, and sexually assaulted her inside the shop.
She immediately contacted police about both incidents.
Gordon was charged on May 21, 2011, and after a seven-day trial at Woolwich Crown Court, was convicted of one count of rape and two counts of sexual assault.
Detective constable Peter Thompson praised her bravery, stating, "These were horrific attacks against this victim.
The victim was strong enough to attend court and give evidence against her attacker and she must be praised for doing so.
Gordon denied the offences, but the jury were able to see through his lies and they rightly convicted him of these grave crimes." He was sentenced today to seven years in prison for his actions.
