MAN JAILED FOR 15 YEARS FOLLOWING PATTERN OF PHYSICAL, SEXUAL, AND PSYCHOLOGICAL ABUSE
A 37-year-old man, recently found guilty of multiple severe crimes including rape, serious sexual assault, physical violence, stalking, and coercive and controlling behavior (CCB), has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with an additional five years on license.
Dean Dowson was convicted at the end of May this year, and at Teesside Crown Court last Friday he was informed of his lengthy custodial sentence.
He also received a lifelong restraining order, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), and will be registered on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
The court was told that his female victim endured a prolonged pattern of physical, sexual, and psychological abuse.
This involved multiple rapes, violent sexual assaults, and degrading acts, which inflicted significant psychological trauma.
The misconduct was part of a broader pattern of coercive and controlling conduct, where Dowson exerted dominance over the victim by monitoring her movements through cameras and accessing her social media accounts.
Additionally, Dowson stalked and harassed the woman until his arrest outside her residence.
