A man from St Helens has been formally charged with several serious offences following an investigation into domestic abuse carried out by Merseyside Police’s Protecting Vulnerable People Unit.
After receiving a report, authorities detained and brought before the courts Dayne Smith, aged 38, whose address is listed as Riddell Way in St Helens.
He faces charges including the rape of a woman, burglary, engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour, harassment, possession of a Class B drug (cannabis), and possession of a blade or pointed article in a public space.
Smith has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear at the Merseyside Domestic Violence Remand Court on Monday, 17 November.
