DAVINDER SINGH'S SHOCKING CRIME IN GLOUCESTER: ABDUCTION AND SEXUAL ASSAULT ON 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Gloucester, a man named Davinder Singh has been sentenced to six years in prison after admitting to the abduction and engaging in sexual activities with a young girl aged just 13 years old.The incident, which unfolded in various locations around Gloucester, highlights the serious dangers posed by predators and the importance of safeguarding vulnerable minors.
Singh, aged 30, who is an illegal immigrant originally from India, began a relationship with the young girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, under false pretenses.
He claimed that he believed she was 18 years old at the time.
Their relationship quickly intensified, and the pair became romantically involved, engaging in regular sexual activity.
Despite the girl’s age being a critical concern, Singh continued their relationship even after being informed of her true age.
The revelation came through Facebook messages, where Singh was told explicitly that she was only 13.
Instead of ending the relationship, Singh chose to ignore this vital information and persisted in seeing her.
During conversations, he even made inappropriate comments, telling her she was ‘sexy for a 13-year-old,’ and the two discussed plans to move in together, further demonstrating the disturbing nature of their relationship.
Singh pleaded guilty to four of the eight charges brought against him, which included sexual activity with a child, abducting a child, and engaging in non-penetrative sexual acts with a minor.
The court proceedings took place at Taunton Crown Court, where Singh, who resides at Coriander Drive, Churchdown, Gloucester, was present.
He relied on an interpreter to understand the charges, indicating possible language barriers.
He was found not guilty of two counts of sexual activity with a child, while two other similar charges remain on file.
The evidence against Singh was primarily based on email exchanges between him and the girl.
These emails detailed their sexual activities, expressed mutual love, and discussed plans to run away together.
Prosecutor David Sapiecha emphasized that Singh’s actions demonstrated a clear intent to continue the sexual relationship despite knowing her age.
He pointed out that the girl appeared to be seeking a relationship, possibly viewing sexual activity as a way to achieve that, which Singh exploited.
The emails also revealed a degree of premeditation, with Singh arguing that the girl had initially denied being 13, but subsequent messages contradicted her claims.
The case revealed that Singh first met the girl in May of the previous year through a dating website called Evow.
The very next day, he drove to her foster home located in the Mendips area.
That night, they engaged in sexual activity in the back of Singh’s van and later at her house.
Singh admitted to making comments about her being ‘very sexy for a 13-year-old’ and expressed concern about getting into trouble for seeing her.
Despite the risks, their sexual encounters continued, including more activities at Singh’s residence later that week, although these did not involve penetration.
The police finally apprehended Singh on May 25, when officers found him and the girl in a van belonging to a friend of Singh’s.
They were attempting to retrieve clothes from the girl’s sister in Swindon at the time.
At the time of the offenses, Singh was legally present in the UK, having moved from India around 2009 or 2010 to study in London.
He had extended his student visa twice, but it expired in August of the previous year while he was in custody.
Had Singh been acquitted, he would have faced deportation due to his immigration status.
The case underscores the grave consequences of his actions and the ongoing efforts to protect minors from exploitation and abuse in Gloucester and beyond.
