PRISON WARNING FOR WICK MAN WHO TOOK IMAGES OF PEOPLE IN TOILETS
A sheriff has warned a Wick man who spied on users of communal toilets that he faces jail if he does not improve his performance on a community sentence.
David MacKinnon previously pleaded guilty at Wick Sheriff Court to recording on his mobile phone a man using the convenience at Thurso harbour on June 10 and another man in a toilet cubicle at Top Joes bar in Thurso on December 2, 2023, contrary to the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009.
On Wednesday, the 39-year-old appeared back for a review of the community payback order to which he was sentenced.
Sheriff Neil Wilson noted there had been no further offending but that social workers had highlighted issues with his compliance with the order.
The court heard that MacKinnon, who did not appear in court, has ongoing health issues.
Sheriff Wilson said: Unless you start complying fully with the order, the order will be breached and Ill be sending you to prison.
MacKinnon, of Kennedy Terrace, was ordered to appear personally for a further review on August 6.
