A disturbing case involving a paedophile from Stirling has come to light, revealing a series of explicit online communications with a supposed 14-year-old girl. The individual, identified as David MacKay, aged 32, engaged in conversations under the alias “MarriedFather” on various social media platforms.

MacKay believed he was speaking with a teenage girl named Sophie, but in reality, he was communicating with an undercover police officer who had set up the account. The transcripts of their chats expose a pattern of inappropriate and sexualized messages, with MacKay explicitly asking for photographs of Sophie in her school uniform, stating, “I’m so turned on.”

Authorities acted swiftly once they identified MacKay’s involvement. During a police raid at his residence on Bruce Street in Stirling, officers called the phone number associated with the “MarriedFather” account. The phone rang, confirming his identity as the owner of that number. This evidence was crucial in linking him directly to the illicit communications.

Prosecutor Sophie Thorburn provided details of the case, explaining that MacKay initially initiated contact with the girl on the ChatIW platform, where he used the pseudonym ‘MarriedFather’. The profile described him as a 49-year-old male from the UK, which contrasted with his actual age and identity. The chat transcripts revealed that even after Sophie disclosed her age of 14, MacKay continued to send sexually explicit messages. He inquired whether Sophie had been with anyone older and expressed a clear interest in her, requesting inappropriate images, including one of her in her school uniform.

Further investigations showed that the conversation was transferred to WhatsApp, where MacKay again made explicit comments about his genital size and asked for photographs. The police confirmed that the phone number used in these chats belonged to MacKay, who resides on Bruce Street in Stirling. During court proceedings, MacKay admitted to attempting to communicate indecently with a child at his home address in November.

His sentencing has been deferred as the court awaits further reports, and he remains on the sex offenders register in the meantime.
