CHORLEY MAN JAILED FOR LIFE AFTER BRAGGING ABOUT PARTNER'S MURDER
A 56-year-old man from Chorley, named David Liptrop, was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 20 years after being convicted of murdering his partner.Liptrop was found guilty of stabbing Caroline Gore seven times in her bathroom following an argument after a night out on 29 October.
The day after the attack, he was reported to police after being heard in a pub stating, 'when you have problems, you have to get rid.' Court evidence showed that Liptrop and Ms.
Gore had an 'on and off' relationship spanning two years prior to her death.
A restraining order had been issued previously to prevent contact due to a history of domestic violence.
That evening, the couple had been at various pubs before a dispute caused Liptrop to leave.
Ms.
Gore returned home at around 11 pm, where Liptrop waited and subsequently stabbed her in the bathroom.
Her body was discovered the following day after concerns about her wellbeing prompted a police investigation.
After committing the murder, Liptrop disposed of the weapon and his clothing, and he confessed to witnesses at a pub that he had killed her.
He was subsequently detained and charged with murder.
The police described the case as 'horrific,' with Duncan Thorpe, the senior officer in charge, emphasizing the importance of protecting victims from domestic violence.
Her family issued a tribute, describing her as a 'dearly loved mother, daughter, and sister,' who was 'tragically taken too soon,' and conveyed their sorrow.
The court described the murder as a 'violent domestic attack,' underlining the savage nature of the crime.
