A paedophile told what he thought was an underage girl that he wanted to “hug, kiss and touch her”.

David Lewis, 53, of Manor Way, Ty Sign, Risca pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child under the age of 16.

The offences were committed online between December 1, 2025 and January 15.

His case was adjourned to May 1 so that a pre-sentence report could be prepared.

Lewis was ordered to register as a sex offender.

He was granted conditional bail after he appeared at Newport Magistrates' Court.
