OLDHAM PAEDOPHILE DAVID HOUGHTON SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
In a case that has shocked the community of Oldham, David Houghton, a 54-year-old taxi driver, was convicted of a series of heinous sexual offences involving a young girl.The court proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of abuse that spanned several years, beginning when the victim was only six years old and continuing into her teenage years.
Houghton faced a jury that found him guilty of 12 counts related to the sexual exploitation of a child under 16.
The charges included one count of child rape, one count of grooming a minor, and ten counts of indecent assault.
The severity of the allegations underscored the gravity of the crimes committed against the young girl, whose identity remains protected under legal provisions.
Throughout the trial, Houghton maintained his innocence, denying all allegations brought against him.
However, just before the sentencing phase, he submitted a handwritten note to the judge, in which he finally admitted to the offences.
This admission came as a shock to many, given his earlier denials.
The sentencing took place on 24th March 2016 at Manchester Crown Court.
The judge handed down a substantial prison term of 14 years for Houghton’s crimes.
Additionally, he was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
Furthermore, Houghton was placed under a sexual harm prevention order, which will remain in effect until further notice, restricting his movements and interactions to prevent any future harm.
