DAVID HAUGHTON OLDHAM PAEDOPHILE SENTENCED FOR RAPE OF SCHOOLGIRL
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Oldham, a local taxi driver named David Haughton, aged 54, has been convicted and sentenced for a series of heinous sexual offenses involving a young girl.The crimes, which spanned several years, included grooming, indecent assault, and child rape, and the victim was only six years old when the abuse first began.
Haughton’s trial at Manchester Crown Court revealed the horrifying details of his actions.
The court heard that the abuse persisted over a prolonged period, extending into the girl’s teenage years, causing immense trauma and suffering.
Despite maintaining his innocence throughout the trial, Haughton was ultimately found guilty by the jury on 12 counts of serious sexual abuse.
It was only during the sentencing phase that Haughton chose to admit his guilt, producing a letter to the judge in which he acknowledged his vile crimes.
This admission did little to mitigate the severity of his sentence, which was handed down as a total of 14 years in prison.
The court also mandated that Haughton must register as a sex offender for life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities post-release.
Additionally, he was placed under a sexual harm prevention order, further restricting his conduct and interactions to protect the community from potential harm.
