DAVID FISKE FROM LEIGH CAUGHT WITH HUNDREDS OF CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN BOLTON COURT
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Leigh, David Fiske, a 37-year-old man, faced serious criminal charges after authorities uncovered a large collection of indecent images of children. The investigation was initiated when police executed a warrant at Fiske's residence on May 9, 2019, leading to the seizure of multiple electronic devices that contained a disturbing cache of illicit material.
During the court proceedings at Bolton Crown Court, it was revealed that Fiske had been engaging in the illegal activity since 2015.
The authorities found that he had downloaded a total of 550 images of children, with some of these images classified as the most severe Category A.
These images depicted children aged between three and fifteen years old, with 130 falling into the most serious category, 123 in Category B, and 302 in Category C.
Additionally, investigators discovered 70 videos among the files, further highlighting the extent of Fiske's illicit activities.
Prosecutor Alexandra Sutton detailed that Fiske's internet searches indicated a sexual interest in children, which was a significant factor in the case.
The evidence pointed to a disturbing pattern of behavior that had developed over several years.
Fiske, who is a father of two, was found to have used specific search terms online that suggested a predatory interest in minors.
Fiske's defense attorney, Colin Buckle, emphasized that his client had a previously good character and that the possession of these images was confined to a relatively short period of seven months.
Buckle also highlighted the devastating impact these crimes have had on Fiske's personal life, stating that he had lost his relationship, his home, and his job as a prison officer.
Fiske was employed as an operational grade officer within the prison service in Leigh, responsible for overseeing various aspects of prison management, though he was not involved in direct contact with inmates.
Despite his remorse and efforts to seek help for his sexual interests, Fiske pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children.
The court was informed that his actions had caused significant personal and social damage.
Judge Graeme Smith sentenced Fiske to eight months in prison, suspended for 18 months.
The sentence also included a requirement for Fiske to complete 80 hours of unpaid community service and participate in 25 days of rehabilitation activities aimed at addressing his behavior.
Furthermore, Fiske was placed on the sex offenders’ register and was subject to a sexual harm prevention order for a period of ten years.
The court's decision underscores the seriousness of his offenses and the ongoing risk posed by individuals involved in such crimes.
The case has left the community of Leigh deeply concerned about the safety of children and the importance of vigilant law enforcement in combating such heinous acts.
