A MAN has been convicted of stabbing his own father in the face.
David Ferguson, of Grenville Road, Gourock, was charged with stabbing his dad, David Smith, on the face to his severe injury, while on two separate bail orders from the court for other alleged offences.
Police were called on 11 April last year to a flat in Carwood Street, Greenock, where they found 28-year-old Ferguson lying on a bed, his father standing in the same room with blood on his T-shirt and shorts.
An officer took Ferguson aside to ask what happened and said, 'I did it - I stabbed my old man'.
The police inspector said he entered the flat when he heard shouting, identifying himself as "police".
Mr Smith told the officer 'someone had come to the door and stabbed him to the side of his face'.
But there was no obvious blood in the hall.
All the blood was in the living room and bedroom.
Mr Smith didn"t testify against his son.
The jury unanimously convicted Ferguson of the attack and Sheriff John Herald deferred sentence for reports.
