ANIMAL RESCUER FACING CRUELTY CHARGES AFTER SSPCA RAID IN GOUROCK
A woman who operates an animal rescue charity based in Inverclyde has been taken into custody and charged with animal cruelty following a police raid.Allison Black, 43, of Gourock, is accused of cruelty to animals after inspectors from the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) conducted a raid on her property.
During the raid, which was prompted by a tip-off two weeks prior, the SSPCA removed two dogs, three cats, and three rabbits for their safety.
Black has rescued over 500 animals through her charity Inverclyde Petsearch, which operates from her home and has been active for seven years.
She claims innocence and describes the case as a vendetta, stating, "This is a witchhunt.
Whoever has made this complaint against me is spineless and hasn't had the decency to say anything to my face." Black also admitted the house was not perfectly tidy but insisted the animals were in excellent condition.
She expressed her dedication to animal rescue, highlighting efforts such as organizing petitions and raising funds, including a recent donation of £2000 from local factory staff to help cover vet bills.
The case has been forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.
The article notes her long-standing advocacy for animal welfare and her ongoing struggle to keep her rescue work alive amid legal challenges.
