HINCKLEY MAN DAVID FARMER CAUGHT STALKING TEENAGER IN SURRY AND LEICESTERSHIRE
In October 2017, a disturbing case of stalking involving a resident from Hinckley came to light, revealing a pattern of obsessive behavior that spanned over a year and a half. David Farmer, a 60-year-old man residing on Castle Street in Hinckley, was found to have been following a teenage girl closely, secretly capturing numerous photographs and videos of her without her knowledge or consent.Farmer’s fixation on his young victim persisted for approximately 18 months. During this period, he amassed thousands of images and recordings, which he kept for his own sexual gratification. The extent of his obsession was uncovered only after law enforcement agencies linked his activities to a broader investigation.
The breakthrough came when Surrey Police apprehended a suspected paedophile in Surrey, which subsequently led to the discovery of Farmer’s illicit collection. Authorities recovered chat logs and photographs that directly implicated Farmer and his victim. These materials were then transferred to Leicestershire Police for further investigation.
When questioned by authorities, Farmer admitted to deriving sexual pleasure from the footage he had taken of the teenage girl. His confession confirmed the malicious intent behind his actions and the serious breach of privacy and safety involved.
Following the investigation, Farmer was formally charged with stalking. His case was brought before Leicester Magistrates Court, where he was found guilty. As part of his sentence, he received a 26-week prison term, which was suspended for 12 months, meaning he would not serve time unless he committed another offence within that period.
In addition to his suspended sentence, Farmer was subjected to a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order. This legal measure aims to restrict his activities and prevent any further harm, ensuring he remains under supervision and is prohibited from engaging in certain behaviors that could endanger others in the future.
