DAVID DUNLEVY FROM BURRY PORT SENTENCED AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULT IN SWANSEA
In a case that has shocked the local community of Burry Port and the surrounding areas, David Brian Dunlevy, a 51-year-old delivery driver, was found guilty of sexually assaulting a teenage girl and subsequently sentenced to prison.The incident took place in Swansea, where Dunlevy’s actions led to a conviction that has garnered significant media attention and concern among residents.
According to court proceedings, Dunlevy, who is known to have worked for several local eateries including Llanelli Kebab Shop, Marmaris, and Yummy’s, denied any involvement in the sexual activity with the minor.
Despite his denials, the jury was presented with detailed testimony from the young girl, who chose to remain anonymous for legal reasons.
She reported the assault to medical staff during a treatment session last year, revealing disturbing details of Dunlevy’s inappropriate conduct.
The girl recounted that Dunlevy had touched her breasts and thighs during the encounter.
She described how he initially touched her over her clothes, then moved his hand up her back, put his arm around her, and used his hand to touch her breasts.
She further explained that he had slipped his hand under her bra and touched her before running his hand along the hem of her trousers, touching her inner thigh.
The girl also described instances of “lingering” kisses and said that Dunlevy’s fingers had been across her back and bottom, with his hands touching her back and waist.
She expressed her discomfort, stating she “didn’t like it,” but admitted she was too frightened to speak out at the time, describing the experience as “weird.” During the trial, Dunlevy’s defense was that he did not understand why the allegations were being made against him.
He also claimed ignorance regarding the reasons behind the accusations.
The court heard that Dunlevy had a prior conviction for indecent assault in 2003, for which he had pleaded guilty, although he maintained that he only did so because his legal counsel advised him to.
The jury found him guilty of the recent charges, and the court sentenced him to 18 months in prison.
Judge Keith Thomas, presiding over the case, emphasized the seriousness of the offense and the need for Dunlevy to be registered as a sex offender for the next ten years upon his release from prison.
