DAVID BRYDEN SENTENCED IN QUEENSFERRY FOR VILE PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES
In a case that has shocked the local community of Queensferry, David Bryden, a 50-year-old resident of Glynne Street, was sentenced to two years in prison after being found guilty of possessing and distributing highly disturbing indecent images and videos.The court proceedings revealed that Bryden's mobile phones contained a collection of illicit material, including explicit films involving children and disturbing depictions of animals engaged in sexual acts, specifically dogs and horses.
Initially, Bryden was arrested on suspicion of rape, but the authorities did not proceed with that allegation.
During the investigation, law enforcement officials seized his mobile devices, which led to the discovery of the illegal content.
Prosecutor Paulinus Barnes detailed that the images and videos found on Bryden’s phones included three charges of possessing indecent images of children, five charges of distributing such images, two charges related to possessing extreme pornography, and possession of a total of 140 images of children along with 14 videos.
Judge Philip Hughes emphasized the severity of Bryden’s actions, noting that his criminal conduct was compounded by the fact that he not only possessed these images but also actively distributed them.
The judge pointed out that such behavior fuels the demand for child abuse material, thereby encouraging further abuse.
“It provides a market for those directly involved in the abuse.
For that reason, it has to be treated seriously,” Judge Hughes stated.
Further background information revealed that Bryden had a criminal record dating back 23 years, including a previous four-year prison sentence for abducting a female.
Since that incident, he had maintained a clean record, with only motoring convictions recorded.
The court also heard that some of the images found were classified as level four, indicating they depicted children under the age of ten involved in sexual acts.
Additionally, significant text messages were recovered, which demonstrated that the illicit images had been shared with others, highlighting the extent of his involvement in the distribution network.
As part of his sentence, Bryden was ordered to register as a sex offender with the police for the next ten years, reflecting the serious nature of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community of Queensferry.
