FORFAR MAN DAVID BROWN SENTENCED FOR INDECENT IMAGE OFFENCE IN ANGUS
In November 2019, a serious case involving a resident of Forfar, Angus, came to light when David Brown, a 77-year-old man residing on Dunnichen Avenue, was found guilty of possessing an indecent image of a child.The incident took place at his home between June 9 and June 15 of the previous year, during which Brown admitted to having in his possession a pseudo-photograph or indecent image of a minor.
Following the court proceedings, Sheriff Gregor Murray delivered a stern sentence, emphasizing the disturbing nature of the offence despite it involving only a single image.
The sheriff noted that Brown’s attitude during the case was particularly troubling, as he demonstrated no genuine remorse or understanding of the gravity of his actions, a fact highlighted in the social work report presented to the court.
As part of his punishment, Brown was ordered to wear an electronic tag for four months, which would monitor his movements and ensure compliance with the restrictions imposed.
Additionally, he will be under supervision for a period of one year, during which authorities will oversee his conduct and ensure he remains compliant with the court’s orders.
Furthermore, Brown’s name will be added to the sex offenders register, a measure designed to keep the community informed and to facilitate ongoing monitoring of individuals convicted of such offences.
His daily confinement will be from 7pm to 7am, restricting his movements during nighttime hours and further emphasizing the seriousness of the court’s response to his actions.
