WALSALL TEACHER JAILED FOR SEXUAL MISCONDUCT WITH PUPIL
The reports confirm that Darryll Prew, who used to teach in Walsall, admitted to having sexual relations with a student in a classroom setting, as well as at other locations, including his car, the student's home, and during a school trip abroad. He was convicted in November 2022 and received a prison sentence of two years and four months.
He was also registered as a sex offender for a period of ten years.
The Teaching Regulation Agency's (TRA) panel determined that his misconduct had a significant, long-term impact on the victim, identified as Pupil A, and involved several acts of inappropriate sexual behaviour dating back to about 2001 when he was teaching at a different school.
In August 2024, the TRA issued a permanent disqualification order preventing Prew from working in any educational or youth services within England.
The authority explained that his actions represented a serious breach of the standards expected of teachers and that his continued teaching could undermine public trust.
This ban is indefinite and prevents him from reapplying for registration to teach.
The article underscores the seriousness of Prew’s misconduct, which involved abusing his trust and engaging in sexual conduct with a minor, leading to his removal from the teaching profession.
