DOMESTIC ABUSER JAILED AGAIN FOR BREACHING RESTRAINING ORDER
A man known for domestic abuse has been sentenced to additional time in prison after violating a court order by repeatedly calling and messaging his victim shortly after his release from custody.
Darren Cranmer, aged 40 and residing on Larch Close in Colchester, had previously been convicted on three charges of causing actual bodily harm, as well as for damaging property and assault by beating.
Following his earlier convictions, Cranmer was also subject to a five-year restraining order aimed at preventing any contact with the victim.
However, just hours after completing his sentence and leaving prison on February 12, he initiated contact by phone.
Over the course of the following days, until his arrest on February 23, Cranmer continued to call and message the victim over 100 times.
During his arrest, authorities recovered his mobile phone, which contained evidence of the harassment.
Despite the proof, Cranmer refused to respond to questions during police interview.
He later pleaded guilty to the charges at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, February 24, and was sentenced to a further six months behind bars.
The existing restraining order remains effective until 2027.
