DARRIN ADAMS PERTH PAEDOPHILE WHO PROMOTED MINORITY RIGHTS FACES PRISON

A man from Perth with a disturbing history linked to child exploitation has found himself in serious legal trouble once again, facing potential imprisonment after breaching a court-imposed restriction. Darren Adams, aged 52 and also known by the alias Derek Jones, was previously caught in a police raid at his residence, where authorities uncovered a horrifying collection of child abuse images.

During the raid, police discovered approximately 18,000 photographs and videos depicting young boys as young as four years old. These illicit materials were stored on his home computer, alongside a written manifesto in which Adams declared that he and others who share his predilections should be recognized as a 'minority group.' In this document, he argued that their legal and human rights ought to be respected, asserting that he was not ashamed of his identity as a paedophile.

Adams openly questioned the legitimacy of laws that he felt did not acknowledge or respect his community, asking, 'Why should I respect a law which doesn’t respect me?' His provocative statements and the manifesto have drawn significant concern from law enforcement and the community alike.

He appeared before Perth Sheriff Court to face charges related to breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO). The breach occurred after police visited his residence in Alyth, which he shares with his mother. During the visit, officers identified a Blu-Ray player capable of internet connectivity, which was a violation of the strict conditions set by his SOPO.

According to prosecutor Emma Farmer, Adams was subject to the order for five years following a conviction at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on indictment. The order explicitly prohibited him from possessing any device capable of internet access, such as a smart TV or gaming console, without prior approval from his supervising officer.

On October 15, 2022, at approximately 3:15 pm, police conducted a routine check at his residence. During the inspection, officers observed the Blu-Ray player under his television, noting that it had a network option and a LAN Ethernet port at the back, indicating potential internet capability. Adams was subsequently taken into custody at Dundee police station, where he admitted to officers, saying, 'I should have told you. It was my mistake.'

His defense solicitor, Linda Clark, emphasized that this was Adams’ first breach of the order and suggested that the device was not necessarily connected to the internet at the time. The case was adjourned for further background reports, with Sheriff Jennifer Bain KC warning Adams that a custodial sentence was still a possibility, stating, 'You should not assume that the decision to first get a report means that I’m not going to impose a custodial sentence.'

In addition to his legal issues, Adams has made controversial claims in his manifesto, asserting, 'I believe I was born a paedophile.' He has called for the recognition of his community’s rights, insisting, 'There’s nothing anyone can do about it,' a statement that underscores the disturbing nature of his beliefs and the ongoing concerns surrounding his case.
